Design for Safe Inspection, Cleaning and Maintenance
DfS review is meant to consider people for whom the finished structure is a workplace, including anyone who will later inspect, clean or maintain it or anything in or on it — not only construction workers during the build.

Façade cleaning at height, plant room access, roof maintenance and periodic structural inspection can all carry risks that trace directly back to a design decision made years earlier — decisions about access provision, anchor points, or equipment clearance.
